Mobile AI Workstations

Artificial Intelligence is rapidly gaining importance – in research, business, and society. To prepare students of all disciplines specifically for this development, they need access to powerful tools and development environments. Currently, many – especially outside the Business Informatics and Data Science programs – lack suitable hardware to realize their own, more complex AI applications.

As a smaller university with limited resources, Leuphana cannot currently provide all students in interdisciplinary programs with the necessary infrastructure. However, it is essential that all students are given the opportunity to not only understand key technologies like AI theoretically but to test them practically.

This project addresses exactly this issue: The plan is to purchase four mobile, fully equipped AI workstations. These are based on the concept of a temporary, nomadic experimentation laboratory and contain a powerful NVIDIA SPARK AI chip, two monitors, input devices, and materials for group work – safely housed in robust flight cases.

Thanks to their mobility, the stations can be flexibly integrated into various teaching formats – from seminars and projects to Leuphana-wide events like the Starting Week or Teaching Day, up to public events like the Minor AI Conference or exhibitions. They not only strengthen teaching but also increase the visibility of student work and AI competence at Leuphana in connection with the Leuphana AI Campus (LAICA).
